Since
our win in the preliminary election, many citizens of our city have
brought to my attention that much is being said about what I am or
am not, have or have not done, and will or will not do as mayor.
Some examples are that I will recklessly raise taxes, hurt veterans,
retirees and local tradesmen, shut down all development in the city
and cut police cadets and police. Others are that I have wasted money
and am opposed to recreation for youth...etc. This is NONSENSE!
These things were not said by me and are not what I stand
for. Please, just ask me.
I am an open book. I address issues up front and directly. People
tell me I'm very approachable and willing to listen. I will continue
to do the same if I have the honor of serving as your mayor.
Our local government has become unresponsive to the will
of the people and your needs. Things have gone too far in one direction.
I have the experience to bring local government back to the
center and move our city forward.
Here is my telephone number (781) 893-2445. If you would like, put
it on your refrigerator for future reference. Please do not hesitate
to call me. That's what I am here for ‚ to help you.
Jeannette is opposed to and has been opposed
to Question No. 1 since last summer when
she was asked to sign the petition and refused. A 40 million dollar
cut to the city budget will cause havoc to needed
city services.
Jeannette believes your money should be spent wisely
based upon need. Jeannette has been a fiscal watchdog. She will remember
that it is not her checkbook, but yours!
As mayor, Jeannette will bring together, at a public meeting, all
cable providers to address cable issues in the city, including poor
reception. Jeannette will require a timely solution.
Public safety is key for the whole community. Jeannette
strongly supports public safety. She was instrumental in the implementation
of E-911.
Jeannette comes from a family of veterans. Her father served in the
Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Her brother is a disabled
Vietnam veteran. Jeannette will not forget the needs of veterans and
their families.
Many of our senior citizens are living on fixed incomes and worrying
about paying for basic needs, and in some cases, choosing between
medicine and food.
As mayor, Jeannette will establish a "Prescription Drug
Community Fund" to ease the burden for seniors. As mayor,
Jeannette will also work to ensure that seniors have a safe
environment in which to live.
Jeannette supports the creation of a community center for our youth.
One of the surplus school buildings would be an ideal center to keep
young people busy and to serve as a community resource.
City Services
The current level of city services should be maintained, including
leaf pick-up.
People of all ages cannot afford to live or stay in Waltham. As mayor,
Jeannette will support the renovation of existing housing stock and
the use of surplus school buildings for first-time home buyers or
other affordable housing. We should be proactive rather than just
responding to Chapter 40B proposals.
To continue to protect your interests, Jeannette needs your vote
on Tuesday, November 4, 2003.
